Uganda wins First 2012 Olympic Medal via Men's Marathon

I do not understand why people they say Ugandan Stephen Kiprotich gold medal win for 2012 London Marathon came unexpectedly!

I am sure this man was determined and he met the qualification standard for participating in the event. Therefore he had an equal chance to clinch the medal like the usual common teams from Kenya and Ethiopia.

Anyway, he fought to the end to clinch the first olympic medal for his country clocking 02:08:11, he was followed by Kenyans Abel Kirui 2:08:27 and Wilson Kipsang 02:09:37 in second and third position respectively. It appears the name beginning with "K" had a lucky chance to clinch a medal!!

Other East African countries marathon athletes could not beat the clock on time as Tanzanian Faustine Mussa finished on 33rd position and Samson Athumani went to the finishing line at 66th position.

The Rwandan fellow Mvuyekure was exhausted, at times he had to walk rather than running, he finished 79th.
The last person to finish olympic for this year was Tsepo Ramonene of Lesotho clocking at 02:55:54 on 85th position.
