Zambia Have won the 2012 African cup of Nations by beating Ivory Coast by penalties 8- 7. This is the first time for Zambia to clinch the cup.
Both teams missed the 8th penalties. For Ivory Coast, Kolo Toure missed the 8th penalty and Gervinho missed the 9th penalty.
The match was balanced, but Zambia predominate the game especially in the first half. Didier Drogba will not forget this match, as he missed a penalty on 70th Minutes by shooting far above the cross bar, probably they could have won the match on regular time, but he missed the spot kick.
Zambians, who were considered underdogs, emerged out different and eventually won the title.
To reach the final, in the semi-final, Zambia won against Ghana by 1 – 0. Ghana and Ivory Coast were considered as the favourite teams to clinch the winners’ cup.
