Out of Office

Later today I will be out of my office.

I will be heading to Tanzania briefly before travelling to Germany etc.

My posts will be affected by the "quake" of moving around. Whenever I get an opportunity I will visit your blogs and I will share with you whatever I will encounter on the way.

Men at Work

Kigali, Rwanda.

There is a swahili saying.... "Mtaji wa Masikini, ni nguvu zake mwenyewe".

That is what is seen in this photo. Men at work, using their natural energy to fight against poverty.

Dhana ya "ung'arishaji" wa uso

Ni siku nyingi tangu nimewaona akina dada huko nyumbani Bongo waliokuwa wanapenda kubadili nyuso zao kwa "kuzing'arisha"(kuchubua) kwa kutia nakshi(Mkorogo) na kuwa na uso iliosawajika na kuwa wenye rangi "hafifu" kuliko iliyokuwapo awali, na wakati huo kuacha sehemu nyingine ya mwili kuwa asilia na iliyokolea.

Kuna baadhi ya watoto wadogo waliokuwa watukutuku nyakati hizo, walikuwa wanatulizwa kwa kuambiwa nitamuita fulani (aliyeng'arisha uso), maana kuna wengine walikuwa wanatisha baada ya zoezi la ung'arishaji.

Majuzi nilikutana na "mng'arishaji" mitaa ya huku, kwangu ilinikumbusha historia....

Wataalamu wa ngozi watanisaidia kukemea kitendo hiki, kwani mbali ya kuharibu muonekano wa mwili, pia kemikali zinazotumika katika mchanganyiko huo wa ung'arishaji zina madhara makubwa katika mwili wa binadamu na hasa zinapotumika kwa muda mrefu.

Income Challenges and Safety of Our Babies

Last weekend I decided to visity a very busy petty business street, I was shocked to see two little babies of less than 2 months left unattended on what I cant even call a mattress which was laid down on the floor on one of the street verrandah between two shops. People had to negotiate their ways through crowdy pavements to avoid stepping on them. One baby was crying vigorously and eventually a mother appear from the crowd to attend her baby, she was carrying her trade on hand. Baby was hungry and was fed, the other mother appeared as well to check the other baby welbeing, also she had her trade on hand for sale.

There are city millitia who always chase away illegal businessmen and women, and always they run uphazardly.

My major concern was safety for the babies there. I have a wish to help, but I do not know how...

Biashara kwa Rubangura

Akina mama wajasiriamali wakifanya biashara katika mtaa maarufu kwa biashara za maduka ya mikononi. Zaidi ya nusu ya wafanyabiashara katika mtaa huu ambao naufananisha kidogo na mtaa wa Kongo Dar ni akina mama, na wateja karibu asilimia 90% ya biashara ndogondogo ni akina dada.

Tutawakomboa vipi akina mama wanaojishughulisha namna hii mpaka kwenda na watoto wachanga kwenye mtaa wenye watu wengi namna hii, bila kusahau pia kuwa na hapa Kigali kuna askari kanzu huwa wakati mwingine wanawakimbiza hawa wajasiriamali!

Keep a Closer Look!

This photo was taken 2 days ago in front of the "abandoned" USAID office in Kigali, Rwanda. The office sign board is covered with shrubs, you can hardly see what is written. The main gate is adjacent to the shrubs on the left side which cannot be seen from this photo.

If you are looking for this abandoned office, just take a walk rather than a car or motorcycle, as you can easily pass by without noticing it.

This is a well kept Kigali Institute of Sc & tec. which is opposite the abandoned USAID office, it can help as a land mark if at all you are looking for the said abandoned compound.

Jana nilikwenda Posta kuu hapa jijini Kigali kuchukua "parcel" yangu niliyotumiwa kutoka ughaibuni (Nje ya Rwanda), wakati naelekea sehemu ambayo huwa wanatunza hiyo mizigo, nilipita kwenye masanduku binafsi ya barua.

Nilibaki nimeshangaa kwani ni ya mbao, na yote yana makufuli ya aina mbalimbali ambayo ndio hutumika kufunga au kufungua boksi lako kama unataka kuchukua barua, nafikiri kutokana uwezo wa mmiliki, anachagua aina ya kufuli la kuweka. Mengine kwa kweli yalikuwa makubwa kuliko kijisanduku chenyewe.
